According to Alberto Pereiro on Onda Cero, “When Mbappé sees he’s going to be a substitute, he leaves training within five minutes.” The Frenchman reportedly complained of discomfort in the last session before the title-deciding match, surprising his teammates because he had completed Friday’s training without issue.

Siro López reported on Cadena Cope that “from the very beginning, there has been no good chemistry between Arbeloa and Mbappé.” This is seen as the clearest sign that the Frenchman is leading one faction against those who orchestrated the ‘execution’ of Xabi Alonso, a group led by Valverde and Vinícius. Mbappé reportedly considered Alonso’s departure a mistake, and his detached stance amid Real Madrid’s crisis is interpreted as a power play in the internal war now raging at the club.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he withdrew as a ‘slap in the face’ to the teammates who pushed Xabi Alonso out,” concluded Siro López.
