The 66-year-old Italian tactician, who has previously managed Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Chelsea, took over as Brazil’s head coach last year. He successfully guided the five-time world champions through qualifying for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Negotiations between Ancelotti and the CBF regarding an extension have been ongoing for months. CBF President Samir Xaud stated on Thursday that he is “confident” Ancelotti’s renewal will be officially confirmed “before the World Cup.”

Speaking at the FutPro Expo conference in Fortaleza, Xaud revealed that the CBF and Ancelotti’s legal team are finalizing the details of the new contract. Ancelotti has repeatedly expressed his willingness to remain in the role following this year’s World Cup.

He is expected to announce the final squad for the tournament on May 18 in Rio de Janeiro, ahead of Brazil’s farewell friendly against Panama at the Maracanã stadium on May 31.

During the World Cup, Brazil will be based in New Jersey and will face Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C.
