Roman Rotenberg: “I Want to Work and Implement New Training Methods

Posted on: 05/11/2026

Roman Rotenberg, the first vice president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR), a member of the board of directors for Dynamo Moscow, and former head coach of SKA, has stated that his priority remains working with Russia’s national teams.

“I dedicate all my time to the Russian national team and the country’s various national squads. It’s a great honor for me to collaborate with the most talented players in the nation. I’m in constant contact with everyone—players call me for advice on various matters from all the national teams.

Of course, I have the desire to work and to introduce new methodologies. This season, we managed to win the Channel One Cup—an excellent result in a tough tournament held in front of full stands in Novosibirsk. We emerged victorious in all competitions we participated in.

Right now, I have plenty of opportunities to monitor games, communicate, watch videos, and analyze numerous matches. I want to work, but I can’t say much more than that. There are conversations and, thank God, there are offers. However, the most important thing for me is to ensure that everything we do benefits the Russian national team.

The Russian national team is my top priority, and I will always think about how to handle things correctly so that all the national teams are structured properly.

We will soon return to the World Championships and the Olympics. Our mission is to prepare players and implement the most modern training methods.

Many players travel to various camps and are being scouted in North America, so they have comparisons. When we provide the best drills and exercises, they appreciate it and realize that Russia has built excellent infrastructure with all the resources needed to catch up with and surpass our colleagues, returning as the strongest.

That’s what we’re working on now. I’m glad I have the opportunity to work with the most talented players in our country,” Rotenberg said.
