Yenisey head coach Sergei Tashuev revealed that he showed his players highlights of matches from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich to illustrate the tactical principles he wants his team to follow.
“PSG apply aggressive pressing, work hard on sprints, and engage physically. In one of their attacks, Bayern conducted four duels in the pressing phase and won the ball back. There are elements there that we try to do,” the specialist explained in an interview with Sovetsky Sport.
According to Tashuev, the main difference between Europe’s top clubs and lower-tier teams lies in the quality of the players, not in the fundamental principles of football.
“It’s all the same, just the level of the players differs. It doesn’t matter if you work at PSG or in Tver. The higher you win the ball back, the greater the chance of scoring,” he stated.
The coach also dismissed reports that he compared himself to Pep Guardiola. “Some write that Tashuev works like Guardiola. I never said that. There’s nothing new in football—just score in the opponent’s goal and don’t let them score in yours,” he added.
Yenisey currently competes in the Russian First League and, with one matchday left in the season, still has a chance to finish in the upper half of the table.
